'Ale killed us' ogham tankard

Tankard made of terracotta earthenware clay and finished with a slate grey food safe glaze. Carved onto the mug in ogham script is the writing: 'Latheirt' which translates to : Ale killed us. Basically a massive hangover!
A 9th century monk scribbled it in the corner of a manuscript. An absolutely treasured bit of history!
Please note the inscription is carved into the clay and left in glazed as raw ceramic. The rest of the cup is glazed. 
Approx. 13.5cm high x 9.5cm diameter at the rim. 13cm diameter including the handle.
