Living History & Historical Interpretation

Bringing the past to life, handling and using objects just as people thousands of years ago did and having a go at a craft or activity brings way more to life in the past than any textbook.

My passion as a long-time living historian and experimental archaeologist is to learn by trying to do things the way ancient peoples did. Having worked in open-air museums and spent years presenting ancient crafts like pottery, spinning and iron smelting, I've learnt that people come alive, relating to the past and the people who lived then, by having a go and seeing it for themselves!

Bringing life back to the past, complete with the styles of the times.

If you ask me hoods and cloaks should still be in fashion!

An early medieval craft display.

Everything I bring to living history displays and workshops has been researched and is based in archaeological evidence.

I specialise in living history from the Scottish Bronze Age, Iron Age and Early Medieval periods.

Shown here is my Bronze Age outfit with clothing based on northern European finds of clothing from bogs. And replica jewelry and pottery.
