Anglo Saxon Beaker cup

Anglo Saxon Beaker cup

A cup inspired by a 7th century AD Anglo Saxon jar that was found at Totternhoe, Bedfordshire, England.

My version of this piece of archaeology has been made cup sized and it's made from dark chocolate black earthenware clay. It was handmade on my pottery wheel and fired with glaze only on the inside to allow for easy cleaning and food safety, but maintaining the historical un-glazed look on the exterior of the mug. The decoration was created using a bone comb, a technique used by Anglo Saxon craftspeople.

The cup is approximately 9cm high, by 8.5cm diameter.

You will receive the exact cup pictured.

Made in my cozy garden studio in Perthshire, Scotland with my trusty pottery dog at my side.
