Cup and Ring Mark Cup/Beaker
A beaker/cup handmade on my potter's wheel and finished with a traditional Japanese glaze known as Tenmoku glaze. Made from white stoneware clay.
This cosy beaker features ancient designs known as Cup and Ring marks which were packed into stones in various landscapes across Europe, including in Scotland. A favourite place of mine to see them is around Kilmartin Glen which is steeped in ancient history. The designs likely date to the Bronze Age about 5000 years ago and their meaning is still up for debate!
The design was achieved through using wax resist on the clay when glazing the cup.
The beaker is approximately 10.5cm high, by 9cm diameter.
You will receive the exact beaker pictured.
Made in my cozy garden studio in Perthshire, Scotland with my trusty pottery dog at my side.
