Nebra Sky Disc Inspired Pendant/ Necklace

Nebra Sky Disc Inspired Pendant/ Necklace

A ceramic pendant based on an incredible piece of archaeology. The Nebra Sky Disc is potentially the oldest found map of the night sky. It is a large bronze and gold disk found in Germany dating to around 1600BC (early bronze age). It shows the moon, sun and stars, including the Pleiades constellation and was found as part of an ancient hoard by metal detectorists in 1999.

This pendant is a miniature version of the Nebra Sky Disc, made from terracotta clay and using gorgeous green patina and metallic glazed to give the glimmering effect of the metal artefact. A lovely wearable tribute to archaeology , the ancient past and the study of the celestial sky cycles.

The pendant measures roughly 3cm diameter, and comes supplied with a waxed cotton cord with two sliding knots to allow for adjustment when wearing it. A little info sheet about the Nebra Sky Disc will be included with the necklace, and it will come in a little gauze gift bag.

This is for one pendant only, unless you select multiple.

There may be slight variation in the finished product due to the behaviour of glazes in the kiln and it being a handmade item.

Handmade in my cosy little workshop in the heart of Scotland with my trusty pottery dog at my side.
